[week 4] rib variants

This week was planned as unofficial P3 to have a meeting with all tutors. Products that are made are a draft report and small prototypes of possible design solutions.

The process is being structured with a scheme for A decision-based design approach [IDE+A 2008]. The steps in the scheme will be used as inspiration for chapters in the report and setup of presentations.

The problem of composing a rib from different elements is to connect them. Below are some prototypes to test different connections. The first variant in the video will not be worked out. The curved beam and dove tale connections will return in a larger test.

Also a third variant composed from solid board will be tested as reference.

Comments are:
- Reference to traditional building methods.
- Make it well documented to let other students use the information for further research.
- Make variants perform in a similar way and compare them with a life cycle assessment to decide.

[week 3] total overview

Because my third mentor Andy could not be at the presentation, we had a meeting at an other time to discuss progress.

Comments were:
- look at traditional references for total wood connections
- make sure not to overlook variants to avoid zooming in to the wrong solution

As a reaction I have made schemes of existing connections and possible solutions.
